I really wish I knew how you guys are getting such good scores. I am still at 599-610 11 months after discharge. I have re-established 3 accounts and have MANY good accts with zero balances that never went to bk7.
but I do have 1 acct for $300 in a charge off status that I can't get corrected to bk status (it was included) on my Experian. Have been fighting for 9 months over this one. (its providian)
but Equi and TU don't show this account and they are low low too. not even 600.
what can I do to improve my scores even 20 pts???

    thanks

This is a huge score killer Figment.

Set your mind to it. Tell them to fix this thing immediately if not sooner, or you sue the bastards.

    :)

I have disputed many times. verified. ugh.
how can they verify wrong info. have written Providian twice to ask them to correct. "we show its being reported as in BK. not !!

so I recently used one of the sample letters and sent it certified. waiting to hear. then will use # 2 and # 3 verisons of those letters.

ps...only Experian is showing this. so why still low on TU and Equi?

what can I do to boost them 20-30 pts?

    thanks for everyones help !!

Well ... good job on gettin the ball rollin Figment, but I'll tell ya what.

On a case like this, where you KNOW it should be IIB, you can get noticeably tougher with them. They really do not want to violate federal bankrupcty law.

I think now that they have a CRRR from you, you should see some action.

Why not give em about a week and then call their executive offices.

Let us know how it goes.

    :)

    HELP !!
I don't know which letter to use in the sample list. none of them seem to fit the situation.

Can anyone guide me to some more samples that would help?
    thanks

When I had some like this, I got the fax number of the corp. offices and sent a nasty nutcase-type, "I will sue the S*" out of you" letter with a 10 day deadline. I addressed it to their legal counsel office. Three tradelines got changed -- two dropped completely, one was changed to IIB. All of the companies called me within the 10 days.

I have been fighting a Citi TL that has been reporting as 120 days late - 12 times. Pretty incredible for a total life of 11 months.

Tried to get this fixed using logic - ha! - w/EQ, finally sent a validation to Citi (twice), disputed w/EQ & TU and it got deleted from EQ & EXP. What's weird is - I did NOT dispute w/EXP, because their online form would not allow me to. So I never got the letter off to them. Very weird.

Ok, so now TU is updated, it's no longer late, just charge off for BK.

My point - and I do have one - is there is no difference in my TU score.

My theory is that any chargeoff, for any reason, hurts your score. If you are a recent Ch7, it's even more critical.

If anyone has any info to the contrary, please tell me, but I don't think there's a "good" chargeoff notation.

    • How these things happen, guys? Is it possible that CRAs talk to each other and compare data behind our backs?

I never got a substantial rise in score (couldn't break the 620 mark forever) until I got the TLs dropped. It didn't seem to matter if it were an IIB or charge off. TU actually dropped the chap 7 BK, but even the other two went way up when I got the bad ones completely dropped, and got the number in recent inquiries down. Also, paying down balances below 50% usage helped a lot.

I am amazed that you have gone up so high in scores in a year. I have been at it for 10 months now and am barely at 600. ugh.
I only have a couple credit cards but the usuage stays about 50%. I did get a few inquires in the last few months when I stupidly replied to Household's preapproved offers twice. ugh again.

I have disputed the negative accounts some remain. will keep trying.

    thanks

What do you mean by legal action? If the accounts are mine and I have disputed and they come back verified....
    what is the next step?

thanks from a novice trying to improve

My chp 7 was discharged Jul 01.. scores about 665 now. Have been as high as 685. Balances to credit limit hovering about 49%. When they were about 30% usage..I gained the extra 20 points. Get your balances lower and you probably will gain points. Also, a big factor in your score is how long you have used credit. If it's only a few years, your scores will be lower. I gained about 30 points when I first started credit repair due to accounts still showing late balances. After I disputed then and they went to 0 due to discharge, I gained 30 points. Length of time using credit, usage %, and all discharged accts showing 0 balance due to discharge....are the biggies.

Yea, I have to credit length of credit usage for a lot, too. TU has me on record from 1985. The others show old TLs too. My wife has perfect credit, but her history is less than 10 years. Her score is worse than mine. She was not a party in my BK.

I have had credit since 1984 and I have over 50 positive accounts on my credit not in the BK.
I wish I was having the luck you guys were. I just can't get the scores bumped.
    thanks
