I just want to know do in send the inqurie letter to the credit bureau or the person who is listed as pulling inquirey. how quickly do they come off and has anyone had any success doing this?
You can send them to all three credit reporting agencies however, you may get a fraud alert for 90 days. Equifax will generally remove them, Trans Union typically does not and Experian never does. For the latter two, you can send communications to the furnishers. In that event, it is usually a mixed bag so to speak. Bear in mind that only the inquiries within the last 6 months are "supposed" to count against you.
How much effect is it having on your scores, and has it been sufficient to result in denial of credit? Do you have any information on the origin of the inquiry? 1) Related to known or suspected id theft 2) Company you never had contact with 3) Company you contacted but did not authorize to pull your reports 4) Company you initiated a transaction with 5) Auto loan or mortgage loan 6) Illegitimate collection related, where debt was paid, or in dispute with validation requested and not provided. It can affect what leverage you have in getting its removal.
Ontrack I have an inquiry from one company that we gave THEM permission to run the credit which they did themselves but then ran it a couple more times with a couple of banks. Do you think it's possible do get the other inquiries removed because we didn't authorize those?
If it was for an auto loan and they were within 14 days, or it was for a mortgage loan and they were within 30 days, it shouldn't matter in calculating your FICO scores. They should be counted as 1 as long as they are correctly coded. It might still cause denial of credit in some cases based on the inquiry count, and not the score, but that effect should fade in a few months.
Here is what I wrote Equifax with very good results Equifax P.O. Box 740241 Atlanta, GA 30374-0241 Certified Mail Tracking # Date RE: Unauthorized Inquiries To Whom It May Concern: You have some inquiries listed on my credit report that I have researched and cannot recall authorizing. There are two credit inquiries by companies that you have not listed contact information for. Out of some of the companies who are listing inquiries on my report that you do have contact information on, some have record of pulling my credit and some do not. It is my desire that my credit report have accurate information about my current creditworthiness. Here is the result of my investigation of who actually has been given expressed permission to pull my credit: Company Date Record of Pulling My Credit Contact Info Yes/No I an only conclude that this information is erroneous and damaging to my creditworthiness. Equifax should consider this communication a formal request for deletion of a disputed item. I am respectfully requesting that Equifax do what is legally mandated by the FCRA and FDCPA, and expunge the inquiries from my report that have incomplete information or have not furnished me with express written proof of my authorizing them to obtain my Equifax credit report. Equifax is not providing some contact information on the alleged inquiries. Therefore, I am requesting that this erroneous information, that is damaging my score and ability to receive the best possible terms for doing business with lenders, be deleted completely as there is no proof of its' existence. Sincerely,
You can just call Equifax. I went from over a dozen to 1 in the past two days, just by calling them. They will tell you they will "investigate" them, and it will take 21-30 days, but all of mine were removed the next time I updated EQ. TU wont remove them, gotta bump them off.
