    Hi Everyone.
Our credit score is around 615 - I have several negative items on my account. Most of them have been paid in full about 3 years ago - they are still reporting with lates and either paid or as chargeoffs. There are about 2 accounts that have been paid but they still state a balance owed. Also, I have a couple of accounts that are not legitimate. How do I begin to clear these up. What is the best way to send the letters? Can anyone give me a step by step? I would so appreciate it. I don't want to have to go to a credit repair agency if I can try to do this myself.

    Thank you.

Write a letter disputing that you never where late and always paid on time to the account that is being reported late or CO. Since you did pay them, they won't fight it with the Credit Bureaus, so they will update it for you.

Within 30 days of sending the dispute you should receive an updated Credit Report with them items in dispute corrected.

Keep this in mind, the company that you owed the money to, has their money now. When you file a dispute the CRA (credit reporting agencies) request an update from the creditor reporting you has late or CO or whatever it may be. Then the CRA has to wait until they reply and if they don't within 30 days. The CRA must update the information on your CR (Credit Report).

    Good Luck!

Don't forget to always send your letters CRRR.

Thank you. I did send the validation letter but most have not responded. I did receive a few back but they just stated that the account was opened on such and such date, had so many lates etc. So, do I now send a letter to CRA and state that they are not mine?

    Thanks.
