Iâ??m about to shop for a mortgage. I need to boost my score up (right now they in a mid 600)
I got 3 credit cards that still have balance on them
All of them closed, have marks â??Managed by Credit Counselingâ? and have 120 late notations back to October 2002. Interest is the same. Iâ??m about to get $6000 as a bonus from my work so Iâ??m planning to pay off some of my balance.
    Discover Balance 4920 Limit 6300
    Fleet 2057 Limit 2300
    Chase 3149 Limit 4100

Iâ??m planning to pay off Fleet and Chase â?¦.
Is that a right way of doing it ????

    Please advice

    thanks

Personally, I'd send letters to all 3 and offer them 50% of the debt, payable immediately, if they agree to permanently delete their entries on your CRs. (Just make sure you get a signed agreement before you mail the money off.)

I don't know if they'll take it, considering you're working with a counseling service, but it's worth a shot.

Anybody have more to offer or know where there's a sample letter?

    I'll try that...
Just for note I'm paying them on time for almost 2 years now, so I don't think they will accept it
Did anybody had any luck with simular cases ??

    thanks

Pay off the one with the highest interest first.

start with the lowest balance one first then.
