Being a newcomer and using your wonderful credit board often over the past 2 weeks, I have begun to read all 1,054 pages of the posts to absorb as much as I can without having to bother someone with every little question I have. Can anyone tell me when logging off the Board for the night, how can I get back to let's say page 75 without having to go page by page. I tried putting the page number in the search box but it did nothing. Anyone know of way to get directly to a page in the middle of the posts, or am I just missing something that's real plain and easy? Thanks. LRM216
Will do, thanks. And got two of the 3 credit reports today so will be posting on some issues re the reports and clearing up, disputing, etc. soon. Hope you all will be around to help. You given me much help with my current charge off with NCO and CCB but I want to start tackling so of the other crap on the reports. Thanks again.
I would like to help with what you suggest you wish to do but the problem is that I actually know very little about doing that. Maybe you would need to seek the help of others who actually do know how to do what you want to do. My only experience has been in doing my own several years ago. That quickly turned into a disaster and an exercise in futility. I personally believe what the FTC constantly preaches which is and I quote, "The only negative items which can be deleted are those items that are inaccurate, unverifiable, or obsolete( over 7 years old, or 10 years old in the case of bankruptcy). There is no legal way to delete accurate, non-obsolete negative items from a credit report." If I read and understand that correctly the only ones who can legally remove any other item is the person or company who put it there or the credit bureaus themselves. We now have a case in which that was plainly stated yet once again. That case is: UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, Plaintiff v. CARLTON PRESS, INC. CARLTON PRESS, LTD., and KIM FLEMING BO WEISS, Defendants. COMPLAINT FOR INJUNCTIVE AND OTHER EQUITABLE RELIEF There were many other issues in the case such as the issuance of documents called IDPs (International Driving Permits) and the claims that the defendants could confidently guarantee to remove negative entries from your credit report in approximately 6 months.( Bankruptcies and judgments[ sic] may take a little longer) Bankruptcies, judgments, tax liens, repossessions, charge- offs, slow-pays, late payments, and excessive inquiries are all subject to laws and can be legally and permanently removed from your credit report, never to return. Additionally they made other false claims on their http://www.bbcoa.com website which included the following: Defendants claim that they can accomplish this feat because they have discovered a way to use attorneys to force the credit reporting agencies to delete any negative item from a consumer's credit report. Defendants' website states that credit repair companies and individuals are not effective in removing the negative items, but attorneys are effective because: Attorneys are" officers of the court" and are exempt from the sanctions imposed by the Credit Repair Organization[ sic] Act. The demands of an attorney- even without litigation- carry the authority of pre- trial evidence. It is the weight of this factor that forces creditors and credit reporting agencies to follow the proper procedures- and the burden of proof falls squarely on the creditor( a consumer is innocent until proven guilty). Creditors must prove not only the charge, but must also show compliance with numerous other consumer privacy protection laws. 24. Contrary to Defendants' assertion, attorneys are not exempt from the Credit Repair Organizations Act. See 15U.S. C. §1679a( 3). Defendants' claims have no merit whatsoever. So how far away is the time when it will be ruled that nobody, not even private citizens acting in their own behalf may repair or attempt to repair their credit? I have not the foggiest idea but one might easily conclude that it may not be all that far off. Personally I think much sooner than most might suspect and I also tend to think that the vehicle most likely to be used to effect that and enforce it might very well be the Homeland Security Act. Who knows? I'm just guessing of course. But what better and more believeable excuse might be manufactured other than the complaint that terrorists had been using credit repair tactics in attempts to further and more easily finance their activities against the American people? That is also why I have never offered to repair nor attempted to repair anyone's credit other than my own and I never will. I had a person call me a couple of days ago and offer me a fantastic price if I would just get one item off his credit history. He stated that he had seen my posts here on creditnet and he knew that I could do it for him. I told him I would not lift even one finger to repair his credit for any price. Matter of fact the more money someone offers me the more it scares me and the more certain it is that I am not going to do it. And guess what else this BBCOA outfit was trying to foist off on the people? The LTU idea that one could evade his debts because the creditor had defrauded him and had lent him no money at all. More Gliha junk. When will people ever learn to quit ripping others off? Probably never.
Gosh, Mr. Bauer, I am so sorry, I certainly never meant for you to have to respond so in depth and use up that much of your time!! My sincere apologies. I'm sure that just by reading all the posts and the other 950 pages I have left to go (!!, maybe in this lifetime!) I will be able to tackle all this gunk on the reports. Some is totally wrong, not applicable to me, etc. and I will tackle those first. But again, thanks for your time. Just knowing your out there reviewing our posts, etc. makes me feel more confident insofar as what I have to do.
There is no need to apologize. I do what I do because I enjoy it and I enjoy helping others to the greatest extent possible. And it helps me to learn too so I get a lot of benefit out of doing it. I read and am capable of making typos (errors) pretty fast so I don't mind. If I didn't have something to do I would go out of my ever lovin mind (a state which I have been accused of being in time after time) It is not only reading that counts, it is thoroughly understanding what one reads. Excellent idea. What the FTC and other such authorities never care to address is the outrageous number of errors that are prevalent in consumer reports. No problem May the Lord be with you in your efforts.
bbauer: And the Lord has certainly blessed us all by allowing us to have you on the Board! Much thanks.
