(Newbie question) I would like to sign up for a service that allows me to continually monitor my credit rating. I don't really plan on applying for any credit between now and 9 - 15 months from now when I apply for a mortgage. I just want to see where my score is and make sure there are no unauthorized inquiries. Please let me know your opinion on the good, the bad and the ugly. Thanks!
Take a look at your first post, I put some info there for ya. Oh and btw, FICO scores are the only "true" credit scores, the scores you see from the CRA's are what we call FAKO scores. There is only one place to get all 3 official FICO scores and that is www.myfico.com They are kinda pricey though. There is a service through Equifax called Scorewatch, it allows you to monitor your Equifax FICO score, sadly Experian & Transunion don't offer this but at lease you can see how one score is doing. It runs about 6-8 dollars a month Tegleg
Like Tegleg said the only real scores are from FICO. I usually "monitor" my scores by purchasing the myfico deluxe package at the beginning of each new quarter. Good luck!
Creditnet shows you some of the best credit monitoring services in our Credit Services section: Credit Monitoring Services CCN Mod
There's no real answer to this question. Some people's scores are lower, some higher, some off a lot, some a little. That's why we call them FAKO. There's no relation to reality and no way that anyone has figured to compute the correct scores from the FAKO. I see in the list that CCN Mod posted that there is an Experian product. I thought there was, but I didn't know the name. That's a good resource.
The Fair Isaacs FICO score is the only true score, you can purchase a monitoring service from FICO, if you want to monitor score trends, Go to www.myfico.com and look under products.
