I know this has been discussed before, and I'm sorry to re-hash this stuff, but my wife and I want to opt out of credit offers through the CRA's. I tried searching the message board, but I couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance for all the assistance.

    Hi,

Call 1-888-5-OPT-OUT to opt out of CRAs marketing lists. One call will remove you from all 4 bureaus (Equifax, Experian, Trans Union and Innovis).

Note that option 1 removes your name for only 2 years. If you want to remove your name permanently, be a little patient, listen and choose option 3.

    Good luck,

Why opt-out? I wish I can be "opt-in" as much as possible, you can sometimes receive great offers in the mail, insurance, credit cards...

For everyone that opt-out I hope they will double my opt-in mail offers LOL =)

I'm not sure how you opt-out, i'm sure someone on here does.

I chose the permenant opt out because I have the credit cards that I want for the long term. I also resent these CRA's making money off of selling my name and credit info

I agree. Pop and I both did the permanent opt-out.

But in addition to the mailed offers, don't they also sell your information to telemarketers?

I would imagine that they sell your info to anyone who has the money to pay. Those big lists are worth big $$

I think so. In any case, I have noticed that we don't get nearly as many telemarketing calls as we did before opting out. (Though this may be psychological since I know we opted out! lol)

I know for a fact that the amount of junk mail that i get has substatially decreased. In fact, it decreased so much that the wife decided for the opt out also.
