a charge off? I called the original creditor and they would not speak to me because they sold the account, but they are still reporting me to the CRA with a 0 balance, R9. Should I send them a validation letter or dispute with the CRA?
Disputes begin with the CRA. The only way (I know of) to successfuly dispute the R9 off is if the CO is more than 5 years old, or however long they keep onsite computer records. In that case, they would instruct the CRA to either remove or update the payment status. I had an incorrect 1 30-day late pay notation, and Premier Auto Finance wouldn't let me dispute it directly because it's no longer in their computer. Upon dispute, they pulled their archives & instructed the CRAs to remove the late pay notation. Good luck!
