I have beem thinking my wife said her credit was in the 600's 2yrs ago. She told me her score is in the 400's now but she hasn't been but 30 days late on house car and home depot card never 60 or 90 just 30 could this pull your credit down that far.
It would be a wise investment to know the facts, its time to pull your credit reports and know your scores. You can't begin to fix something if you don't know what needs repaired. Here something you might want to consider. TrueCredit Credit Reports and Score Monitoring or try searching for TrueCredit here on the board and it should take you to a link.
I wouldn't think an over thirty would pull you down that far. Could there have been other things that changed? Like an increase in debt on credit cards, etc?
pa125's post is dead on target. I would recommend getting some facts, especially the real reports from each CRA. The most important thing you are neglecting is the differences in the " score ". I would be willing to bet a fair bit of money you are comparing apples to oranges: FICO is not FAKO, so the score decline could be partially due to one score being FICO and the other being FAKO. Swings of some 100 points between these two " scores " are widely known. Get your FICO scores, and go from there.
Yes, a new derogatory entry can have a devastating effect on a consumer report if there has been nothing to that effect for some time. Generally, the higher one's scores, the more of an adverse effect a new, albeit marginal, derogatory item will have. Some creditors will remove these as a matter of courtesy if the account has been caught up. The key is knowing which ones will oblige a request to delete notations.
