I had 2 derogs (not my accounts) removed from my credit reports about 2 months ago. How long before my credit score changes to reflect this?

I just had my credit report pulled for a mortgage app, and the score still has not changed.

How often is the score updated?

Approximately, 3-4 months. That has been my experience.

Changes to your credit report IMMEDIATELY affect your credit score.

Suppose your score was 700. And you went out and applied for 7 credit cards one after another. After each credit card inquiry, each creditor would have a lower score than the last, because inquiries are items that lower a score.

Yes, that is true for negatives, however I have noticed that it takes a little longer for the opposite scenario. After negatives were removed or positives were added good old fico/beacon did not recalculate until a few months later. That is my own personal experience. If your experience with positive changes is different let us all now.

I know the mortgage broker said it can sometimes take a while.

Man I wish I had been able to get those incorrect account removed earlier.

Remember, every inquiry will ding your score too, so be careful how often you check it.

I'm not sure, but I think that inquiries
generated by me won't count when calculating
the score, since this is not an application
    for credit...

your correct, when you request your credit file it does not show on your credit, as you are not applying for a loan or credit. You may wish to confirm this with the CRA but thats what I've been told.
