report? This was on a judgment against me 3/98 that is now assigned to CA. The last date reported to CA was 10/99, so it's been 4 years. Can I have this removed by CRA? I'm a little confused as I know that somehow 4 years is significant to CAs. thanks!

Judgements are different from any thing else...

However, everything depends on your state.

Typically, unless you can challenge the listing, and dispute it off, a CA can stay on your report for 7 years from the last activity on the OC's account.

However, how long a judgement can stay alive depends on your state. Judgements need to be renewed every few years by bringing you back before a judge. If the company which holds the judgement doesn't renew it when it is about to expire, then it should fall off of your credit report, when the judgement is no longer on file at the court house, etc.

The information for your state should be found here.

Thanks for the info. Would anyone advise to deal directly with OC or with the CA (I C Systems) who has it? Should I ask for validation from IC Systems? Thanks, this site has SO much helpful info., though it's hard to find info. w/ regards to CA trying to collect judgments. By the way, I'm in California.

    Send CA a Val, Letter.
Depends on who owns debt as to who you have to deal with.
