I got a email from a gaming site that I make frequent deposits with, well today the sent me an email saying that a deposit on april 18th wasnt processed correctly and they are charging it today. well for one, the credit card they are trying to use is maxed out, and two this is 4 months after the fact that I dont even know if there statements are valid. Is this a fightable, how far can people go back and charge you credit cards when they make mistakes???any help would be appreciated.
Did they supply any services to you on or after April 18? If any entity supplied services to you, they do have the right to payment but make sure that they are actually owed the payment that they claim. You need to review your April, May, June, July credit card statements and see if there is a corresponding charge on April 18 from this gaming site. If the credit card you used is literally maxed out, their charge will either push you into over-the-limit charges on your cc or will be rejected by the credit card company. It depends on the terms of your particular card. Review your cc statements and make sure that any "deposit" you made was/or as claimed, was not processed on April 18 or shortly thereafter. Only by carefully reviewing your actual credit card statements will you know if the gaming site's claim is true. IF.....and that's a big "IF".....it turns out that the gaming site is attempting to double-bill you, and you will know by reviewing your cc account statements, you should write [and that means snail mail] to your credit card company Billing Dispute or Customer Service for Billing Dispute and tell them that there's a "billing error on my account." Name the date that you made your original "deposit" with the gaming site, and explain that they are claiming it wasn't "processed". Tell cc company in your letter, [if true] that a review of your cc history shows that the gaming site did receive payment on such-and-such a date and that this latest attempt to charge your card is an unauthorized charge.
Try getting an unauthorized charge reversed from a merchant if you don't report it within 60 days of the statement.
