Question, I disputed w/ EQ for my wife and results were due yesterday. I am not sure what to do now. Do I send them another letter, give them more time, or what? Basically, what kind of communication should I have with them and when. Thanks All.
It takes about 30-45 days to get a response from Equifax, they are the slowest in my experience. If it has just been 30, don't panic it is possible the results are just on their way. Also keep in mind, after Sept. 11, USMail has been slower than ever before. I would call Equifax and find out if you have items in dispute. Do NOT give them any information other than your SS#, address, and name, and tell them you sent in a dispute and would like to know if it has been processed since you have not heard anything. This happened to me for Equifax, and I surmised the person who opened my dispute letter simply threw it out. If you find out that you have nothing marked as "in dispute" than your only recourse is to re-dispute them. If you sent CRRR you have evidence of Equifax violating the FCRA but that will only help you if you take them to court, you are better off now sending re-disputes. Keep the receipt though in case you end up in court Disputes online are always processed since you enter the information in directly, I suggest you enter future disputes there. Just remember to keep copies of all the information (what you disputed when and why) and keep all the confirmation numbers that are given to you...I always print copies of everything. -Peace, Dave
I had a dispute with Equifax, it took the 30 days, plus about 3 more days for it to reach me by mail. Give it a few days. Gib
