I used to be on this site ALL the time and it helped me get my previously horrible credit score immaculate. Its been awhile though, and Im a little rusty.

I bought a house, lived there, and moved out after 2 yrs. I decided to rent it out. I left my cable boxes and modem behind for the tenant, but he never used them. The cable co. didn't have my new address and sent the bill for the equipment to collections. I initially disputed as "not mine" because I didn't know what it was for. Once that was verified, I found it was from the cable co., so I returned the boxes but not the modem because my tenant "lost it". The cable co. told me I still owed them $87.43 for the modem. Two weeks later they sent ME a check for that exact amount. I figured they screwed up and would wait to see if the status changed on my CR. Months later the account is still open on my report as the full amount of the original bill. I disputed again as "paid". Its been 35 days and EX still lists the investigation as pending. Don't they only have 30 days to verify? What should my next step be??

    Thanks.

Ok...EX now shows the account as "updated" but shows no outstanding balance due. This means they consider it paid, right? What is my best shot at getting this off my CR? Anyone have any experience with Comcast Cable?? Sorry so many questions!

Send a letter to an officer at Comcast.
