I have a repo on my report 1 1/2 years old. I am starting to rebuild my credit right now. How long does it take before the repo is outweighed or has very little relevance on my credit apps. I am getting a Capital One secured Visa (already approved), a FCNB, and an Associates secured Mastercard.

My credit report has other minor things on it, paid collections (this week!!), and a couple late payments 4 years old...

    Any suggestions....
    Thanks!!

As time goes on creditors pay less attention to your negatives and repo. It normally takes 7 years for the entries to disappear from your Credit reports (5 yrs if you live in NY).

I am glad you have 3 cards... unsecure those cards after 6 months.

Good luck in your journey PC509 !

I've seen several posts on how long negatives stay on your CR. I live in NY and I have been told it's 7 years for it to fall off. Now I see some people say its 5 years. Okay which is it????
