Re: Re: How many cards do you have? Thanks, Rich. Actually, I tried to hang on to the Providian, the 5K Cap.1 and 5K Orchard but they refused to work with me. Providian refused to waive the annual fee or come off the 19.8 APR. Cap. 1 refused to unsecure the account after 6 years! Orchard would not drop the annual fee permanently and refused to lower the rate from 15.9. Incidentally, Cap.1 still reports the 5K account as open on two of my reports so I get the benefit of ageing even though the account has been closed a long time.

daveberk, That was Capital One at their arrogant, condescending worst: once subprime, always subprime. Things may have changed a bit with the entry of Mr. Cooke. Too bad you never made his acquaintance. I hate bad stories about Providian, because I really want to negotiate (nearly) prime terms and save my account history with them. We'll see what happens. One by one, I'm pruning my old subprime cards, at this point only because they're stupid enough to force me to do so. Later, I will have absolutely no need for those cards. You're already there. Must be nice.

I don't think, however, that they check D&B - and - if i remember properly - they never asked me for our business federal tax id number (other biz cards have asked - even tho my personal cr was always pulled)

What probably put me over the edge and made me decide to apply was not that we needed credit, but that homefront(my bro) was bugging me about all the plastic in his wallet. Honestly, the citi experience was like a glass of cold water on a hot night if you get my drift, (George, where are you with your advice on my long rant about citi?) but overall, I cannot complain and here are my results so far. My scores after a nasty divorce with lots of debt were in the 400s, and now range from 690-722 usually. 680s after a lot of new trades. But I am not complaining!
