I hear alot of talk on this board from people who have been denied for excessive inquiries...how many is that usually.
It really depends on the creditors. I have been turned down in the past for too many recent inquiries when I only had 1 in the last 6 months. I've been approved for cards when I had 6 or more in the previous 6 months.
ZERO, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE-----> ONE IS NOT EXCESSIVE... NOTICE THAT ZERO IS EXCESSIVE!!!
Inquiries count for 10% of your score, or about 85 points on an 850 scale. If you have no inquiries, you should get the full 85 points in this category. IF you have two, you lose a bunch of points. Once you get over two, you should lose about 4 points a pop til you get to twenty. Once you hit twenty, you will have lost virtually all the possible points in this ctegory, so you can apply til your hearts content without losing any more points. Of course your score will suck by then, but that's another story.
I think future creditors also care whether the recentinquiries are matched by other creditors granting you credit. Understandably they might feel that if other people turned you down they should too.
But if the inquiries truly are recent, the creditor would not have any way of knowing if you were approved or declined from the recent inquiries. It takes time before the accounts show up.
