We just finished paying off some medical bills (we had to pay alot out of pocket with our lovely PPO insurance over the last 2 year) some got deleted and some did not.. We have no credit cards or loans just an old mortgage and a dismissed ch.13(trustee said we had too much income so he dismissed it?) My husbands FICO is a 470 so my question is how many "cards" does he need to have to rebuild his credit to at least a 550 and how lond will it take? We are buying another house this time next year and need at least that thanks

The only thing he's going to qualify for is a secured card. Even then, opening a few revolving accounts isn't going to raise the score much insofar as they will have no history or much avaliable credit to offset the derogatories that weren't deleted.
