Does anyone know how often, per month, Cap 1 posts to the 3 CRA? Thanks for the help...

Thanks. I was just wondering b/c I jacked my charges up with things I'd normally buy with cash, now I want to send the cash to them but want it to post with the new balance b/c my limit on my CR was a few hundred less than my true credit limit. I just don't want to have to wait until it posts, then FICO will drop due to card being almost maxed out then have to wait another month for true score. Looking for a mortgage soon so I figure I'll just send the entire amount in. Now that I think about it, I don't think that a few more hundred bucks in CL will effect my score that much.

Usually every month. Sometimes they skip one CRA or another.

Unfortunately, for us it seems they only skip at the most inopportune times...oh well.

They report once a month for me and my husband also. I hate that you have to charge to your limit in order to get it to show on your report. Why is that? I just got an increase from 400.00 to 900.00 and it still shows as 300.00 as my "high credit". I don't want to charge $900 in one month just to get them to report it. Oh well what can you do.

Just buy an expensive camera or other electronic device. Don't buy a computer as they can generally only be returned after 14 days. Then return the device for a credit to your account. Circuit City has a 30 days no questions ask return policy.

    kozman,

What a great idea! I never thought of doing that! Do you think Cap1 has a motive in doing this. I think they want you to charge to your limit so they can collect the interest when you can't pay it off within the grace period. They haven't gotten any interest from me as of yet since I pay it off each month. Well thanks for your advice.

Just be sure to do it in a business you DON'T particularly care for.

I don't know if this is a negotiable issue or not with the cc services, but in our business, we have to pay the merchant fees on ALL cc transactions, even if they are ultimately refunded. We don't get a refund of the merchant fee.

We've got a good rate, but it's still a pain to take the hit on like that on high dollar purchases.

THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO REFUND THE FEES ALSO...

    NEW CHARGES $5,832.68 @ 2.50% = $145.82
    CREDITS-------$1,652.84 @ 2.50% = $ 41.32

    YOU PAY-----------------------------= $104.50

THE CREDIT REFUND MUST BE NEGOTIABLE...

Make sure to save a little room for finance charges. You don't want to go over your CL just b/c of finance charges.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS S.O.P. TO REFUND THE TRANSACTION FEES...
