I'm trying to get a CL increase on my Penneys card, and I know they pull all 3 reports. I'm trying to figure out if it's a hard or a soft. Called the Mngr of the credit dept, and she had no idea that there was even a difference. I called EXP and the CSR that I spoke w/ told me told me I can ask Penneys how they code it in the computer. If it's coded a 36 it's a soft, if they put in a 31 it;s a hard. She also told me that when they see a soft, they can see all the same info that they can w/ a hard. HMMM, very interesting. She also noticed on my report that I have inquiries pending. HMM, how'd that happen? LOL she said, I notice that they were disputed online, that isn't supposed to happen. She was very perplexed and said it must be a computer glitch. Yup, must be. They only show one as pending, I show 2. I told her I believe it must've been coded wrong, because I had a Sears R9, no way would I apply for a new card at that time. I was hoping she'd just delete it, but NO! Anyway, very interesting about how they code inquiries. I think I'll call Penneys back and see what they say this time!!
