My wife was just served a summons for a medical bill, actually, they gave it to me and I signed nothing. Though I assume that the server signing a document would be proof enough of service. The last thing that her credit report needs right now is another judgment. The date is a few weeks away and I was wondering if we started making payments now if the judge would throw the suit out or at least extend the date allowing us to pay it and avoid another judgment? Anyone know?

Call the attorney and ask what kind of arrangements they would except in lieu of getting a judgment. They just want their money and if you offered a sizeable down payment, I bet they'd dismiss it.
