How to deal with a collection agency... Hello, A collection agency has placed a negative TL on my credit in the amount of $111.00 from the county library. The library said if I return the books that I only owe $57, and if I pay that, they will notify the CA and they will remove it from my credit. I have a feeling that if I do that, the CA won't remove it, but list it as PAID. I want it removed. How should I go about this? How do I negotiate me paying the balance for the complete removal of negative TL from my credit? Thanks ahead of time for your help, Gibson
How to deal with a collection agency... You are gonna let $111 for a couple of books screw up your credit? Go return the books, tell the library that you will pay whatever amount that you owe if they will get the CA to remove the derogatory tl from your reports. Get it in writing. Honestly, some of this is just common sense.
How to deal with a collection agency... Would I be on here inquiring about it if I was going to let $111 for a couple of books screw up my credit??? I will gladly pay the $111, but I want it "removed" from my credit... not marked as a paid collection. Can the library guarantee and give it to me in writing that the "collection agency" will remove it from my credit? I've heard horror stories of where the original creditor was paid and then the collection agency never removes if because they say they now own the account and now they want their money. I'm on here trying to find the right way paying and getting it removed from my credit. Thanks.
