How to deal with removing paid traffic ticket? Help!

Has anyone had experience with getting a paid through collection traffic ticket removed from their credit report?

It was a red light camera violation that was mailed to our old address. When we received it at our new address (after we updated at the dmv i guess) we responded to the Alliance One letter, although we were 2 weeks past the 30 day cut off since it came when we were out of town on Christmas vacation.

We reported in person at Alliance One and they set a court date which we went to. The case was entered not guilty and was dismissed.

There was a $100 court fee fine (reduced from $666) that we were asked to go pay at the Alliance One counter in the court lobby.

Alliance One told us it was not and would not reflect on our credit report and indeed it had not been on it as we use an on-line credit reporting service.

Well, lo and behold we were shocked when one of our creditr scores was 80 points lower than expected when applying for a remodel loan last month.

And, yep, there it was in big red circles, the only blemish as Alliance One paid through collection, public record filed. It appeared after we paid them apparently.

How should we fight it? Should we go back to the court in person or send a letter to the court? Or go to Alliance One?

Seems we may have a leg to stand on under FCRA since it was sent to incorrect address and we acted as soon as we were notified, and the case was dismissed?

Any similar experience or words from the wise would be greatly appreciated!!!

If it was dismissed, why did you end up paying $100?

    I'm actually not totally sure.

I thought at the time that it was a "court fee". I was so happy that I didn't have to pay the $666 dollars that I didn't even ask. DUH....

I'm so glad you answered my post! Thank you!

Do you think I should go back to the judge or just dispute it in writing certified mail?

First find out what was decided. You don't know what you can push for until you know that.
