I have a $225.00 bill with a lawyer for an old real estate transaction and I am paying monthly although I was very late in sept, oct, nov. but am current now.

This person never took the fee out at closing (was an out of state transaction) and never billed me for over 2 years. I finally discovered it and called them and started paying.

I recently sent a payment and requested the offices email as I wanted to settle via PAYPAL as soon as I could. I did this once previously as well. They said they can't do it that way as they arn't set up for online payments.

they sent me a letter recently saying pay 185.00 by the 10 of feb. as settlement in full or they will take me to small claims court. They will take no internet payments as they arnt set up for it.

I dont want to do that now. I prefer to just make the monthly or pay via PAYPAL (CC).

My requests were CRRR. There recent letter wasn't.

Any Ideas on how to deal with this? I sure dont like to be bullied by jerks. If I go to court I dont have a leg to stand on do I?

    All thoughts welcome.

They should thank you...BUT they are being JERKS????

Tell them you are going to pay how YOU want...

I would pay it off A.S.A.P. like 3 months to get RID of them.

Of the $225 how much do you owe, and how much are you paying per month?

I should think they'd be glad you're attempting to pay, especially it was someone else's error that this wasn't deducted to begin with.

If they're not set up with PAYPAL and aren't willing to use the service, they don't have to. If up until now they have been accepting your monthly payments, you'll have demonstrated to the court your willingness to pay.

I think they're bluffing. No laywer worth their salt charges less than the settlement amount they offered you.

If this was the attorney doing the closing & they missed this fee, they were negligent, not you.

Why aren't they willing to accept your monthly payments? And why do you insist on PAYPAL?

I was late in Nov.and December and sent several payments in in Janurary, 2002. So the office admin. person sent the intent to sue letter if not paid by feb. 10..

I wanted to use Paypal and put it on my CC. I dont want to give them my CC#. I dont give my CC. # out very often after getting ripped off.

I will just send monthly payment in and see what they do. it will take some time for them to sue and maybe I'll bump it up to the next court level. Just to give them a scare. Then I will settle.
