Over the years I've been obliged to ignore my credit rating to cope with life's unforseeable. But after many years, my child support is over, my kids are safely in college on grants and sholarships. My bonus this year will be of a size to allow me to pay all my existing debt in full (if that's necessary) including many charge-off's and collections. No judgements. This I would like to do. Now it's important to me that if I make this effort, I get a bit more than simply the satisfaction of having paid my bills. I also want to have these items removed from my CR's as I pay them. Secondly, I'd *prefer* to settle some (particularly the older ones)of the debts at a percentage less than 100%. Even though they are important to me, I don't have a lot of time to deal with these issues. Should I hire some company or attourney to negeotiate the payment of these debts? Is such a thing possible? thanks, Wrapitup
Don't hire anyone... do it yourself. There was much talk about two major Credit Repair Agencies around here about a year ago... now nothing. Also you may want to get an education in statute of limitations because it sounds like you may have some that you don't have any obligation to pay. Use the search function on this board and just browse past messages. You would be amazed at what you can learn.
What language do you use in the letter you send the collection company? I negotiated a settlement this morning (purely by mistake. First time attempting to do this adn then Ifournd this website.). and they have agreed to remove this item from credit report. I am just unsure what should be included in the letter I need to fax to them. Thanks
I have a copy of one somebody else posted a few months ago. Email me and I'll send it to you (click on my name). Better not to post it here, but I will send it to PBM to put in the letters section. Whoever it was who did that about 3 months ago, let me know, and I'll give you credit
