i had a judgement against me a few years ago, and through asking for debt validation and verification letters sent, i was able to have the negative listings removed from Equifax and Transunion. However Experian says the debt was verified, and will not re-verify it (i did the dispute online). what can i do? i would like to think that since it was removed on the other 2 credit agencies, it should/could be removed on experian also. please help
If the judgement is valid and Experian verified it, you should be happy that you were lucky enough to get it deleted by both Equifax and TU. Unfortunately, they won't care what the others have done. I wouldn't rely on the online dispute process though in the future. You should always dispute in writing directly with the credit reporting agencies.
So if you want to dispute in writing, how exactly do you go about that? As far as I can see, experian only allows for online disputes? If not, could you let me know what the address is? I'd much rather do this in writing. Thanks
I'm sure that's what they would like everyone to believe. However, I have seen examples both in this forum and others of people disputing via the mail and receiving responses. I can't imagine they could get away with actually ignoring your dispute just because you sent it directly to them via the mail, CMRRR. Some people (my grandmother for example) still don't use the Internet these days! Anyway, you may want to try sending your dispute letter to Experian at the address given below: P.O. Box 2002 Allen, TX 75013 Phone: 1 888 397 3742 I know people have had success with this address.
so what do i say in my letter to the credit agency since its been verified. any sample letters on here?
I would wait at least 2-3 months or so if you want to dispute an account that they've already verified. If you dispute it right away they might deem your dispute frivolous. Check out our sample letters section for some guidance, but most importantly just keep your dispute short and simple. Too many people try to write novels explaining their situation, and it doesn't help their cause in any way.
sorry to sound stupid, but im new to all this... what can i say to experian so they would investigate an already verified listing?
Wait awhile, and then write them, CMRRR, disputing something specific about the entry that's incorrect or missing. There's no reason to reference your previous online dispute that didn't go so well.
