How to re-dispute TU inv results

    My Sears saga continues....TU investigation results 'dispute resolved'. They still left me with a charge off/closed acct (9/97), and they report a current past due balance of $200. The odd thing is that TU deleted all references to late payments--ever. So I have this negative account, charged off and closed--but according to my reports and my FICO, there is no evidence of late payments (just the 'past due' balance and charge off). They deleted all references to 30,60,90 days late.
    Now, when I re-dispute this with them, are they going to simply re-insert the 30,60,90 lates, or does this give me grounds for deletion? The lates aren't my biggest concern, though (although I would rather not have them on there), it's that darned 'recent' past due balance on closed acct that is killing my score. Do I ask them to reinvestigate? Or should I just innocently try another on-line dispute and say 'I was never late--see report'??
    I'm so close to FICO of 700+ for the first time, but this mess with the Sears credit nazis knocks me down again every month...:-( Help!

    Did sears sell the account? That is what happened to us. One $677 account from about 1998 was an assigned or joint account with both of us and the second Sears account with my wife only was purchased by RMA. So the purchased account shows R5 while the assigned account was, or has not been sold to date. This account is listed as R9.

    I understand that Sears at anytime could sell this account to whomever they want, this is the nature of commercial paper. Then it would be simply listed as R5.

    No, Sears never sold the account (yet, at least). I don't really understand why, but they just seem quite content to let it sit there with a $200 past due balance. I'll spare the gory details, but this account was settled in full in 2000, unfortunately, however before I became (somewhat) CreditNet wise. Stupidly, I saved no documentation. I've tried everything short of legal action to get them to respond to me and they seemingly won't even acknowledge that the alleged debt exists (other than to verify with CRA's).
    What pi**es me off the most about Sears is that they act like they don't even want the darned money. I've tried settlement offers--legitimate ones--even offering to pay the full disputed amount for deletion, but they just keep on ignoring me. They just want to damage my credit reports as much as possible by reporting 'current' past due obligations on a closed account, and numerous other dirty reporting tricks to make this (almost) 7 year old account look like it is a 'current past due'. :-(
    Sears is baaaaaaad news. They violate your rights all the time and they do it in every conceiveable way, making it nearly impossible to fight, dispute or even sue. It is no secret why exactly Sears makes more profit from it's Credit Card business than it does from actual sales at its retail stores. It will be a cold day......before I ever make another purchase from Sears, Roebuck and Co. I'm a responsible, bill paying consumer and I will not conduct business in the future with such dispicable people. Sorry for the vent........needless to say, they have frustrated me beyond belief!

    I have had the exact same experience with Sears. So we will never in a million years will pay RMA or Sears a dime. I got the RMA account removed by sending a list of all their violations to the Attorney General and then sending the same 12 page report to the FTC, a law firm that RMA hired, and to equifax. If the thing pops back up, I will simply send the now 15 pages to whomever I have to.

    The actual Sears accounts are slowing falling off from constant and persistent complaining to the CB's. But who knows when they may sell the last account to a bottom-feeder?
