    I feel like a newbie all over again here but out of the 13 dispute letters I have sent this is the first I have gotten a responce from. How do I proceed?

    Our office is in recipt of of your letter reguarding the above referenced account. Our client, Ridgenet submitted this account to our office for collections on Nov 30, 2000. Our office requested that an itemized statement be sent directly to you. This address submitted for this account as *gave old address* (I have recieved nothing from them and cant believe someone sent a $17 bill to collections!)

    Our office is in recipt of of your letter reguarding referencenumber XXXXXX. Our client, Mediacom submitted this account to our office for collections on Feb 11, 2000. An itemized statement was sent directly to you on May 28, 2004. (no it wasn't, they mailed it to my mothers house instead of the one on my letter and it just was a print screen showing name, address, and total amount due which is NOT valadation imo)

    If these accounts were opened fraudulently, please provide our office with a copy of your identy theft affidavit and police report. You will also need to provide documentaion in the form of a lease and/or utility bill for proof of residency in 1999/2000. You will also need to contact the fraud assistance depts with the three national credit bureaus. There phone numbers are as follows... ya ya ya ya please call us if you reqire addational info.

    (I certainly don't have bills or copies of leases from 5 years ago and I lived with my parents in 2000 so nothing there either.)

    How do I respond? If I had $100 I'd just pay to get deletions to save hassle but I don't.

    If it's not your account and you pay, you may or may not get deletion. You don't always get what you pay for, and you can't even be sure it won't be sold and "collected" again.

    Lets play "SPOT THE VIOLATIONS"

    1) Validation is to be sent from the OC to the CA and then on to the consumer. There is no other procedure which is acceptable.

    2) Doesn't matter if the sent val. yesterday. They MUST do so again after you dispute it.

    3) To say that a consumer must come up with certain documents, in order to dispute, leads a least sophisticated consuuer to conclude that unless he has the documents mentioned in the letter, (ie. lease, and a utilty bill from 5 years ago) he cannot lodge a successful dispute. This of course is preposterous, and thus, a violation.

    4) Where's the MM?

    :)

    Mini Miranda.

    The little;

    "This is an attempt to collect. Any information will be used for that purpose".

    That's illogical.

    We ALL started somewhere. Like ... the beginning.

    This one would go over good if you were disputing old addresses wouldn't it?
