Husband Liability on CC Debt?

    Is my hubby liable for my CC debt? (hes not on any of the accounts) A CA has called him at work, they kept trying to get him to say he would take care of it, and that he was liable because we were married in Texas (But we weren't, not sure where they pulled that from!) We're in NY if that helps.

    You're not in a community property state, so sounds like the answer is no.

    Was the debt incurred prior to the marriage?

    No, I don't think so, but his name wasn't on the card or application...

    Since his name is not on the account or on the application, and you're not in a community property state, then I can't see how the company has a right to bother your husband.
