    Here I go...

I got into some trouble in college with credit cards...couldn't pay them, they went to collections, etc. But now I'm trying to fix what I've messed up. I've paid one credit card off completely and tried to pay off another card that I had that had gone to collections. I called them up (FFPM Carmel Holdings) and they told me I owed them $189 and I would be out of collections. So I paid that. I got a letter a few days later saying that I still owed $102 so I called them up and they said that $189 was actually a settlement. I didnt' want to do a settlement so I paid the rest of it off. Apparently I over paid because when I called to get a letter saying we were all paid up and everything was good they told me that I had a credit of $20. They sent me the check refunding it but no letter saying I was paid off. A few weeks go by and I get a letter from a completely different company that I owe another $62 on that account. I called them up to dispute it and they told me that I would have to contact FFPM Carmel about it. So I try to do that today and they've gone bankrupt and I can't get in touch with anyone there.

So heres' my question: The woman I spoke with at the new company says that she will say that it was settled paid in full. What does that mean? Is that going to hurt my credit more? Its $62 so if it is I'll just pay it but this is just so irritating....what should I do?

Thanks and sorry its so long!!!!
