Some of you might remember that before I found this site, my DH had about $2000 total in medical bills, that were being collected by one CA. 1. Dentist $1587 2. Hospital1 $80 3. Hospital2 $50 4. Hospital2 $119 5. Hospital2 $50 We started paying $250 a week just to get these to a 0 balance asap. We NEVER questioned the bills, we knew they were his, we had no Idea what validation was. Well we stopped paying as soon as we found this board (among other reasons). We told the CA they would get their money as soon as they sent PROOF, a statement of what was paid to whom, and how much was owed (this was over the phone. They refused. After a few disputes with TU (only on this report) #4 & #5 from above came off. #2 and #3 say 0 balance PIF CA. and #1 says $587 balance. This is all true. Anyway, a couple of days ago DH gets a collection letter from this SAME company regarding 3 NEW accounts. All of them are for $50 each. So I whip up a Validation letter and called who THEY say is the original creditor. I ask them (hospital2) if DH owes any money within the last 4 years. They say he owed 2 for $50 ea. and one for $119, that was paid when it was sent to the CA on 10/11/01. She said other than that there is nothing on their file. I call hospital2 (same city) they have no record of it either (CA letter said hosp.1). While I am on the phone I say "do we owe any bills with you" he says "no you don't the last time DH was here was 5/98" I said well we paid $80 to the CA becasue they said it was in reference to you (hosp2) he transferred me to the accts. manager, he has no record. We have NEVER owed $80. The AM says thats an odd amt. cause it would either be the FULL ER amt. (no ins.) or $50 deductible, he said NH doesn't have any other ins. companies that would charge the consumer (me) that strange amt. At this point I am OUTRAGED!!! So much I want to call the CA and chew them a few new Aholes EACH!! But I didn't cause we have a C&D. So I searched the board, took a bit from letter a b &c and created a validate this or get it off!!!! I also brought to their attn. that NO ONE has record of certain accounts they are or have collected on. I am still looking into this with both hospitals, I would love nothing more than to nail this CA to the wall. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, even if you KNOW you owe the bill VALIDATE IT, it's your right to request proof, it's not their right to screw you out of your hard earned money!!
