I can't believe this!!!! :(

There are stories all over the board about problems with Equifax verifying disputed information as correct. I suspect they are not really investigating disputes 80% of the time. They simply don't have the manpower to keep track of so many disputes. So they lie to consumers and wreck their credit.

Now it has happened to me :(
I have been paying on my car loan for several years now and I am current. I have never been late. I just checked my credit report last month and found that my car was newly reported as 3 months 30 days late! Now I knew this was a simple mistake that could easily be corrected so I didn't worry. The branch manager at my bank assured me it would be taken care of as soon as Equifax called to verify. He said, "Go ahead and dispute with them and I will send you a letter for your files."

Here is the text of the letter dated March 7:

"I understand your concern with the discrepancy on your credit report and I agree that this matter should be taken care of immediately. I have reviewed your account in detail, and have found that your account has never been 30 days late since it was opened with us. Please continue to take the appropriate steps with the credit bureau agency that is reporting this information inaccurately. We will continue to assist you in this matter..."

Equifax sent me a letter verifying the information as correct! I spoke with someone at my bank today (the branch manager is on vacation) and he said no one contacted them from equifax regarding my account. I tried once more to contact Equifax and dispute the verified dispute. I spoke with a nice lady who assured me she would repeat the investigation and someone would contact the branch manager directly. I am still upset because I feel Equifax did not actually investigate this incorrect info the first time. :(

I have an account with a CA showing as duplicate that the CA swears they have updated with Equifax. Yet, everytime I dispute it comes back verified.

Is it duplicated with the same account #, amount owed, DOLA and everything? I can't believe Equifax would not just delete a duplicate account unless the numbers don't match. As I said above, I really don't thin Equifax is "investigating" anything.

Actually this is an easy one, don't worry. You'll have it off in a month or less. Just have the bank fax/report a letter to the Credit Agency in question and they will correct it, it doesn't matter that they previously verified it. I did the same thing 2 weeks ago and it was fixed within days.

Yes, you would think Equifax would be so smart.

But I do agree that with a copy of your letter sent with the dispute it should just come right off.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it too much as far as EFX refusing to remove it. The law says the need to report only accurate information.... this is obviously not accurate, and is degrading your credit..and it's all their fault. If causes you to be denied for credit, they might even be liable for damages.

Anyway, they need to fix this asap

    SoParkDiva,

If you don't sue Equifax over this one, you are crazy. Its a slam dunk $2,000 or more plus a guaranteed deletion. (Just demand a "procedural request" for a second violation). We need people like you to sue so THEY WILL THINK TWICE next time they fraudulently "verify" false information.

I'm begging you, please, please, please take them to small claims court. If not for yourself, at least for everyone else on this board!

I understand what you are saying about equifax but I would be raising hell with the bank as well. They are the ones who reported the delinquency and should be held accountable as well.
