I was wondering if anyone could shed light on this. I owed over $20,000 on a credit card which ended up being charged-off as bad debt in late 2005. I just ordered my 3-bureau credit report, and although the bad debt is reported by 2 of the bureaus, all of my credit scores are just under 800! Up until I defaulted my credit was impeccable and I'm currently in perfect standing with all my other creditors. The collection agency that the debt was sold to has made inquiries on me but hasn't reported the debt. Any ideas?
Was that score from FICO or some other scoring company? The scores from MyFico.com are really the only ones that count.
Well, the charge-off is relatively old and has a zero balance. That would explain it. When the debt purchaser reports it prepare to start circling the drain . . .
Thanks for the replies. CCBOB, they were PLUS scores. Any idea why the debt purchaser wouldn't have reported it by now? They haven't even made any inquiries since July of 2007.
Could be a small one that doesn't have a subscription to the credit reporting agencies. They may not have sufficient info to get it on your reports. They may have forgotten about it. Could be anything. Those PLUS scores by Experian are usually higher than FICO's.
Thanks apexcrsrv. I just got my real FICO scores and they range from mid to high 700's. This is very weird. I'll assume that they will nosedive at some point.
