False alarm, I'll bet.

Today, I have THREE alerts on Privista for inquiries from AMERICAN EXPRESS-TRS CO INC , but my real report on CreditWatch doesn't show any of these.

I've seen this happen before, few months ago, Privista had something else pop up in my Inquiry section, can't recall what it was now. Ran right to Equifax to check it, nothing there.

The "privista" inquiry disappeared the next week.

For these, and several other reasons, I always take Privista's alerts with a grain of salt.

Privista is alerting me about 4 Amex inquires this month. But There is only one on my report.
I agree, there is a False alarm

 

Just checked mine. Six alerts! 2 Amex inquiries dated last year! One closed account that actually was closed about 4 years ago! 2 CITI alerts re: balance. The same info is repeated. All this and my score went up 1 point!

These are not meant as sarcastic or critical questions at all, but why would one subscribe to both CreditWatch and Privista? Isn't this overkill? Or is one maybe a leftover subscription that you are letting run out? Or the last possibility, does Privista have some compelling value I'm not aware of that makes it worth the additional money?

Why Privista and CW?

Privista has no value. Like you said, I started Privista last June, and thanks to a couple referrals my subscription lasts through this Winter.

I started CW this year for the 30-d free, was going to cancel after the trial, but decided to keep it and ditch Privista instead.

 

I had the same problem. Got my Privista update and I had 11 Alerts from 8/19/02:

(8) AMERICAN EXPRESS TRS CO,INC (Acct. Inquiry)
(1) AMERICAN EXPRESS (Acct. Inquiry)
(1) CHEVRON USA (Balance Change)
(1) ULTRAMAR DIAMOND SHAMROCK (Acct. Inquiry)

I'm not sure what's going on but I have not applied for anything from AMEX since May 2002 when I got my Fidelity AMEX Platinum card. The balance change with Chevron is correct but I don't know what the deal with Ultramar is since I have not done business with them since 10/96 (closed account -0- balance). The last time they reported was in 3/2002 belive it or not. So I don't know what is going on as I do not have access to my real time Equifax report. My guess is that inquiries are falling off and that is somehow messing with how the information is downloaded form Equifax to Privista??? Just guessing...

I wanted to cancel them after a year but they somehow renewed my membership in June without me finding out until after the fact. I wonder if I cancel if I would get a pro rated credit? I wanted to switch to the Equifax credit watch.

 

Thanks denied!! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Now if there just a decent TU score service. It just Ugghhs me to have to pay twelve bucks every time I want to update my TU FICO score, which, until I get my mortgage finalized, is fairly often.
