I don't see this anywhere...

and I have asked before, but hey worth another shot!

How do the CRA's decide how long to report GOOD CL's? All I have been able to find is "up to 10 years". I had one Auto Installment loan that on all of my other Credit Reports states "scheduled to remain on report until 8/2004. Transunion deleted it last week after I disputed 6 other negative items. I really believe they did it in error. I know its an old account but I needed it! LOL Can you dispute the removal of a good account? The credit union that this loan was through also gave me a credit card that ended up being included in my bankruptcy, so my guess is the OC voluntarily reinstating is out of the question??

Also, when you dispute something, ie: car loan reporting w/ 1 30 day late payment, and you dispute it as never late, instead of correcting it the CRA deletes it. What steps do you take? Just kiss the entire TL goodbye and be thankful its not on the negs anymore? The OC was a company that was bought out by Cap1.

The reason I ask is to look at my credit report, I've never had a car loan. My understanding is a mixture of CL's help your score.

*I have read the first 3 posts repeatedly and don't see anything remotely applicable.

When you are disputing, you always risk having a TL deleted rather than fixed.

What you have been able to find "up to 10 yrs", is really all there is. The FCRA only limits reporting time for baddies, not goodies.

I'm trying to get a good TL reinserted (deleted obviously in error-because of an acct with similar acct. #), I haven't had any luck--yet. My theory is, it never hurts to ask!

Ughh this is nuts. I cannot believe they can just decide one day "Hey, this TL has been here long enough" and click - delete.

I'm guessing you have had no luck in getting yours reinserted? May I ask what approaches you have used?

Well, I only just started this a couple of days ago. Going to try and check on it later. I called a contact I have at TU. Mine is a little different in that they didn't investigate the account I did dispute, and deleted the wrong one. I will keep you posted.

Update - got a call from TU this morning. They are reinserting the deleted wrong account, and deleting the right account.

Contact called me back a few minutes later...she decided to take a look at my report, found some reinsertions on them from CHOD, and has deleted them permanently for me!
