    Hello Everyone,

I found this site a few months ago when I googled goodwill letters and this was one of the sites that came up. Great site, full with very helpful information.

Oh yes, here is the thing which I do not understand.

After reading some of these posts I wonder why some people have chargeoffs of $200, $300 or even less? Do they not understand the severity and the financial consequences that may cause for years to come over a few hundred dollars ? Am I saying that a few hundred dollars is not a lot of money? No, but if it destroys your credit rating then I say that yes a few hundred dollars is nothing compared to the financial aggravation that it causes over the next several years.

    Good luck to all !!!

I think all things are relative. A few hundred may be a few thousand to some or twenty thousand to some.
A lot of times when people get behind they put their heads in the sand and do not open any of the bills.
A few thousand to some may be only a few hundred.
When I was more than 300K in debt, if it was 30K it would have been *no problem* for me to pay off the debts.
Another thing is many people do not know what can happen when you let a debt go... also that several hundred that they owe, may have to go for food or rent.

Easy...if the most worrisome thing you ever had in your life is late payments worries, then it would be difficult to understand why some people miss paying their bills.

When people face harsh life with all its stresses such as divorce and all its challenges, or serious illness and all its hardships, the last thing on their mind is paying a 100 dollars bill. Hell losing a job can cause someone to over think their priorities: should they feed their kids or pay Chase Manhattan? I think the answer is quite simple. Maslow's Hierarchy of needs can give you the answer.
