and I'm unsure about it. Had 2 Cap1 cards included in my CH13 which discharged Jan 02. They have never been reported correctly and I have been trying various strategies to get them deleted, with no real luck. Recently I got a letter from them, out of the blue, that said "A periodic review of our records indicates that you may have a credit on your Capital One account. A refund check will be issued for the amount due and will be mailed in the next 30 days. Thank you." The letter referenced one of these old accounts, by the account number. Saturday I got another letter from them, it was the check. ***$728.50*** A phone call to some csr provided me with no info, was told to call another department today (Monday), but I haven't yet. I sure would like to deposit that check, and I sure am scared to do so. Could they have messed up CH13 Trustee payments that badly? Anyone else ever experience anything similar? Can they demand that money back if they say it was a mistake? Any advice for me? My wife and I each have a current Cap 1 card and pay them online each month, so I guess they already have access to my checking account numbers if they want it.
I;ve never dealt with a a chap13, but i can tell you that most credit cards WILL NOT give you a refund unless you are due one. keep ALL of your records of the refund just in case they try to pull a fast one later.... I recently OVERPAID my cap1 online (because there was something wrong with their online payment system that day). They did tell me that they could refund me but it would take 30 days... I opted to charge the credit instead. It's probably real, but maybe someone who has more experience will reply... best of luck....
