I bought a home in June 2001. I have no idea as to what my score was then. I will tell you that I had 4 chargeoff accounts & 2 collections, that I had to pay in order to qualify, and had been late on some open accounts. I had not been late for almost 2 years on anything and had acquired a Providian card and Capital One card also. They were between 1 & 2 years old. Anyhow, I had to put $3500. down and qualified for a house that was $99,000.00. It was the most stressful process but well worth it. I have a FHA loan and due to income I had to do a buy down loan-which I plan on refinancing after 12 mo. I figure if I could do it then there is hope for anyone. Good luck to anyone who is considering buying a home. I was so proud of myself and you should be to if you do the same!!!
Well i dont really know the score, i know it was very poor, but i have 4 charge off's and a collection paid off since 2000. i gave $4,000 down with a7.25% financing. The waiting was a killer, but finnaly it was approved im so excited. I thank the all mighty for helping me out. you guys kept me calm during the process thank you for your opinion and support. Ed
