Filled out the online app. Called a few days later and was told I was denied. 2-3 days after that call I got the denial letter, then today I get home and fine a Citibank AAdvantage Gold card with a $9,000 limit!!!! Thank you Roni!!!!!

This is fishy. I don't mean to throw a wet towel on an overwhelming occasion, but do you think that there is a bug in their system? That's two denials that ended up resulting in the issuance of two high credit line cards?

No idea. I'm a software developer so I know that system bugs are definitely a possibility. I know what you're saying though. I had just read Momof3's post then I get home today and find the card that they told me I was turned down for just a week earlier. Very odd, but I called em, activated it and ordered an extra one for my wife with no problem.

I can understant that, I have no idea how this happen twice, but he activated the card no problem, I guees maybe there was a glitch somewhere. I do remember though when he went to submit, it jumoed backed and hit submit again, so maybe he applied twice?? Not sure but we will galdly take the card.

RE: I got the AAdvantage card.

    Hi:

I received my AA card, last week, and my husband received his yesterday. I got approved for both the regular and gold, both with 9k limit, my hubby with 6k limit, ( I have a card from this account too). I don't know if to return one of mine, and just stay with 2 cards (mine and joint with my hubby). Now I'm afraid that I have over extended myself. What do you guys think?

Also, I called a citi rep and asked if they had any promotions or specials on balance transfers, and was told that they needed to review my credit (another inquiry) for them to give me a deal on interest on the transfer. I don't know if this is worht it.
I want to transfer my Sears balance, to get out of that 23% interest.

    Thanks!

Congrats to all that has aquired the AA card. I can tell you that the AA card must be the easiest to qualify for, because they are declining applications for their other cards. I applied for my husband the AA Gold,(instantly approved 10,000) and then I applied for the Sony Platinum for him,(declined). So I don't believe there is a bug in the system. I also applied for the Sony card for myself and it was declined because I would be overextended with the credit line they would give me. Then I turned around and applied for the AA card, and it's still pending. So who knows?

We were told the same thing about the balance transfers. A few days later, they offered us 6.9% for 6 months. I don't know if the inquiry will be one that counts against you, because you are not requesting additional credit.

Usually when a company that you have an account with reviews your credit for something related to that account, it is not an inquiry that other creditor will see is is an AR inquiry

I had two charge offs in '95, and defaulted on a credit card loan to Citibank in '95 (paid it all back @ 8% interest) and they just gave me the AAdvantage Gold Card with a $9K limit.

Dont worry, David you are not throwing a towel on anything. My friend received his card. And there's nothing really else to say about that. Now go build that credit.

This card is easy to qualify f

That is why i recommended that you guys try. With all this talk about providian and capital one, and how having a prime card with high limits effects your credit score, I was thrilled when I was approved. My credit is trashed really and they approved me. It also gives me a chance now to break from some of this subprime high annual fee and interest rates cards that i obtained previously. What I wanna hear is how having a prime card with a high limit helps the scores of those who had only low limits on their subprime cards. I hope to see an improvement in my score. Of course with carefully handling of all of my accounts. Would you guys do me a favor, stop worry about how and why you did or did not get the card. Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. And if it is a computer error, boy am i glad that luck turned in my(our) favor for once. I wish equifax would get a computer glitch and loose my defaulted student loans. What you think?

RE: This card is easy to quali

I agree Roni I am thrilled that my hubby got this card, I don't care how or why I am just happy. I am sure there were no mistakes when issuing the cards themselves, don't think citibank would do that. But like you said who cares how or why, we all should just be delighted:)
