I Hate Citi Cards

Recently, I requested a line increase only if my credit report would not be pulled. I don't want inquiries for a credit card line increase. It's not worth it to me. Besides, I've been with Citi for some time and I deserve an increase for being a good customer.

The increase was declined. The rep stated that I would receive a letter in the mail stating the reason for the decision. I closed the account on the spot and tossed the card into my shredder.

The following day, I found an inquiry on my credit report from Citi. I was outraged. I called and was assured the matter would be resolved. I also fired off a Planet Feedback letter.

Today, I received a letter stating that the request for an increase was declined for having high revolving balances. The only problem is I DON'T HAVE ANY REVOLVING BALANCES on any credit cards. I stated the fact and the rep stated that the information was reported by one of the bureaus.

I pulled credit reports from all three bureaus today (non-subscription direct pulls). I do not have any balances as I stated to Citi. Now, I'm left with an inquiry for the next 2 years and Citi bank has refused to remove it.

Do I have recourse of any kind. Thanks.

Who's number is this? (Cuz, I'm always in the market for solutions that might fit situations that are close to the ones that the OP presents.)

    Breeze,

Is the number to the Office of the President? If so, I sent a PlanetFeedback to them and received the reply in the mail today. They're claiming that the Card-holder Agreement gives them the right to obtain follow-up reports.

Since I closed the account and have fresh copies of my credit report which does not substantiate their decision to grant the increase, what should I do?
