Here is the background. In Oct of 2001 we applied for a home rental with a property management firm. We chose not to rent the house after getting a better offer for another property. In July of 2002 and Dec of 2002, the company pulled hard inquirys on my husband and my Equifax credit report.
Each time I spoke with them after the fact, they stated it was a big mistake and would never happen again. Basically they are a bunch of idiots and were running something on their computer that pulled Equifax reports on everyone in the system. Since our last name was B***** we got hit before they could stop it TWICE.
I have repeatedly asked them to call Equifax and remove the inquiry. I was told by Equifax that they couldn't do it for me, but this prop. mgmt co. could with just a phone call.
I was going to let it go but now after seeing all the legal stuff on here, I basically want to hit them so they see the seriousness of it. They tried to tell me their inquiries aren't hurting me!
So what letter should I write? Does someone have a link to a full letter that will knock them on their A** enough?
And how exactly would I go about suing them if so inclined?
Won't removing these 2 inquiries raise my score? I have a total of 6 hard inquiries in the past year including these nimrods.
    Thanks!

I'd say if you are serious, then having a canned letter is probably not what you want. I say this because if you are entertaining the idea of actually going to court you're going to need to know what the FCRA actually says.
For the most part, the FCRA is not tough reading and you could read it all and write your letter in an evening.
    Proving damages will tough.
