I just caught this one going through all of my disputes. Chase account in 2001 did a B.K(7) on it. Chase account in 2002, disputed it with Equifax and got the results of investigation. This account has been updated to show "included in B.K" that was in 2002. It reported that way for the next 10 months. June 2003 Chase balance $2,xxx past due 120+ days. How did this happen? After an Equifax investigation in 2002. Same account number also. This really drained my FICO score. What should be my next steps towards Chase or Equifax?
If I were you I would write the credit bureau a detailed letter (dispute) about the account in question. Tell them it was discharged in your bankruptcy and that Chase is still reporting it as owed but past due. Send them copies of your credit reports that show discharged if you have them. They should get things straight when they contact Chase to validate the debt. Hope this helps.
This account is scheduled to continue on record until 05/04. The account went bad around 05/97. I know the normal advise is to not send the CRA the discharge papers, list of creditors, etc. In this personal situation I disputed it 11 months ago as "included in b.k" sent the discharge papers, and the list Chase was on. After an Equifax investigation in 2002 the account was updated to show "included in bankruptcy" and stayed that way until June 2003. Who would be more at fault here on this one Chase or Equifax? Any suggestions or advise would be great. File court papers or write a psycho nutcase letter? I already went out of my way in 2002 to get it done the wrong way. Should I settle for nothing less than them deleting the account that will fall of in 05/04 anyways?
