Double-checked a verified/updated account on experian today and I noticed something very odd...

This is a Sears account, "Paid/Account charged off. $197 written off." in Status section. There is also a "Your statement" section which says: "Account previously in dispute - now resolved, reported by credit grantor"

WTF? I can only assume that this is the section intended for personal statements. Obviously, I never made this statement. I disputed online last month as never late, recieved an "updated" report this month. What is the best way to address this situation?

The account was paid in full, and so I also have a problem with the "$197 written off." I believe that the 100 word personal statement option is useless, so I have no intention of ever sending one in. I have never read about someone having a personal statement added without their permission, so I do not know what kind of violation this could be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I believe, and I may well be wrong. The 100 word statement is for the entire report not for individual accounts. Whenever I have disputed an item that got verified I had a statement in the account field that states I disputed the item. I never let this bother me as scoring doesn't (shouldn't) take this in to consideration and no one seems to look at my report any longer, just a scoring system.

I got an update report from CSC and it stated on one tradeline ...."disputed as not his or hers". I never put that information there...

    What do I do???

TU added a statement on my report without me telling them too.

Got to give them a call.

This has happened to me on Experian and Tu..

when i was just disputing the balances..

i have 2 tu accounts that now read:
    Account disputed by consumer

and 3 Ex accounts that now read:

Account information disputed by customer (meets requirement as per FCRA)

    I am totally lost...

I had this happen to. All you have to do is write to them CRRR and tell them to remove all statements from your CR. You can add that you never told them to add a statement....etc....etc.

They will remove it and send you an updated copy!!!

I wouldn't suggest you call... it will not get you anywhere... it might even have them add something else that looks worse.

    Good Luck
