Me: Bad Brother (NJ) He: Good Brother + Co-Signer (PA) Car Loan Interest: 10% Outstanding: $3,400.00 Payments: $140.00 month My co-signer (brother) helped me out after the NJ Credit Union repo'd my car. I got back on track, but then was late 60 days... seeing no notices, I thought they were "cutting me more slack" (No Flames Please!). They never sent either of us any notice... Turns out they dinged his excellent score without notification, now he wants to Re-Fi home and buy car. Credit Union says too bad, cannot take 60-day late pay off his record... My NJ attorney says they can do this to his credit WITHOUT notification... any ideas for helping my good brother? TIA, Bobby
You can try to write a letter to the noteholder and pretty much beg them to remove the late, but there isn't anything that I know of that will require them to do this. Are you current now? How long ago were the lates?
One more thing: I thought that if my brother arranged to pay it up, then the collections department might be persuaded to remove the black mark from bro's report... Anyone?
if that is the only negative, it shouldn't hurt too bad and he will just need to give a letter of explanation.
