Damn, i think i let the Bigfish break the line and jump back into the Lake.... Disputed a debt to CRA, also prepared the Validation letter to go out, I normally wait about 5 days before sending out the validation CRRR. Got a letter from the CA telling me that my debt is being handled by them and this is an attempt etc..., it also goes on to say not responding back in 30 days will result in reporting debt to Equifax(The damn debt is already been reported and has been for a couple Years) I know they got the Dispute notification from the CRA and said holy S! let me send a collection letter. Ok guess what i forgot to send out???? The $%#@! Validation letter. I checked my report this morning and the "Consumer Dispute Reinvestigation in progress" has been removed, which means they've verified as my debt. Do i have them on reporting to CRA before notice to me,however reading this weeks reports about this exact topic is questionable, and can i point out the fact their letter indicates failure to communicate before 30 days result in reporting but you've already reported. Or am I screwed?
Not screwed, send validation letter to the CA CRRR and then send a dispute to the CRA. Keep the copies of your report that show the listing by the CA on date XX and the letter you just got saying "if you do not respond in 30 days by YY" so that you can show a judge that the debt was reported BEFORE you got the first collection letter. That would add another $1000 to your bargaining power if you need it later. -Peace, Dave
