I think I have some violations here

I have a collection account (Asset Acceptance Corp.) that is reported on all three of my reports as "Consumer disputes" yet I'm still getting letters for payment from them. That's a violation right? How do I proceed from here?

I don't have a copy of my dispute letter (it was before I found this site so didn't know all the proper steps I should take). However, I do have copies of all my reports that say it is disputed, as well as the letters they have sent wanting payment. I'd love to get some cash out of them, but would settle for removing them from all my reports :) Thanks!

I HATE Asset Acceptance. See my tag line.

Yes you have them on violations. Are you sure you cannot find the letter. You would almost have a definate lawsuit.

File a complaint with the FTC. I am trying to get them to investigate this company.

Also, send them another validation letter or just the Estoppel so you have them on a definate paper trail. You can file a complaint with the state of MI Atty. gen. Don't bother with the BBB, they don't do anything.

They are still on my credit reports and keep verifying anytime. They will not remove it so I am filing complaints galore.

My goal is to become a thorn in ASSet Acceptance's side until they remove.

Its a violation if the dispute letter that Laurie33 sent is a VALIDATION letter. Not sure if simple dispute letters count.

I'm sure I don't have the letter or any documentation, other than that it is reported as in dispute with them. So I'm wondering what can/should I do from here?

Also, what is the estoppel letter? Is there a copy somewhere I can use?

    I second Love....

Requesting validation and simply disputing an account are two different items. Was the letter a VALIDATION letter?

Yes, it was validation. What I used to do is whenever I got a letter from a CA, I'd write on it that the debt wasn't mine and I wanted validation that it was, including original creditor contact info. Usually I never heard from them again LOL. I know it's not very scientific, nor did it create a paper trail for me to use, but it worked. And like I said, it was before I found this site :)

Should I send them a letter to the effect of "either validate and send me my $2000 for the two letters you've sent since my request, or remove from all my reports"?
