    Please help!!

I was sued by Providianâ??s CA, Arrow Financial Services. I was scared and didnâ??t know what good showing up to court would do so I never attended the hearing or responded to the court summons.

As expected a judgement was entered against me. It was for $2990.81 and that amount included court costs, attorneyâ??s fees and interest. Anyway, yesterday I got a letter from the payroll department of my employer saying that they had a notice of garnishment for me for $3243.63, plus interest. They are going to start tapping my paychecks for 25% each payday starting this week (which hurts, really bad).

Anyway, what I donâ??t understand is how the judgement amount went up by $252.82? The judgement was issued on 4/24/02 and interest was granted at 10% per annum from that date until it was paid. I failed every math class I ever attended. Can someone please tell me if that sounds right or is Arrowâ??s attorney trying to pull a fast one on me and my employerâ??s payroll department?

(My sideline: Providian treated me like absolute crap and then sued me to pay off a balance that included so many of their sneaky fees for things like credit protection and Health and Beauty Rewards (whatever the hell that was all about!) I really hate those jerks.)

Anyway, thanks for any advice you can offer me about this. I REALLY donâ??t want to call Arrowâ??s attorney and my payroll department specifically instructs me to contact Arrowâ??s attorney (not them) with any questions. I am just sick over this whole mess.

    turtle,

you should have went to court..... you probably could have worked out payment plan that would be better than garnishment ( i know from experience).

Yes, you need to contact arrow immediately. If you do not want to talk send an overnight letter (fed ex/ups) the extra fees could be court costs and filing fees that judge awarded them upon judgment... do you have a copy of the actual judgment?

I know I should have gone to court now but at the time I was clueless that I had any rights in the situation. (I wish I could turn back the clock on this one)

Yes, I have copies of everything the court sent me including the original judgement paperwork. I am afraid to contact Arrow or the lawyer since I know CA's and their 'bottom feeding' lawyers can 'pry' information from you. :(

Additionally, this may sound very pathetic (please don't laugh) but I have been through the ringer lately with my creditors and I am a frazzled wreck on the jagged edge of a breakdown. I am afraid that I will end up bursting into tears and making a complete fool of myself or exposing myself to even more verbal abuse.
