dogman George - I saw something on TV where credit card companies do keep track if someone does a lot of balance transfers..I wonder if you got that Cap One offer with the monthly fee because they knew you might move a balance later? Just a thought. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If they CAN'T do their best to KEEP my business...YES, I WOULD BT!!! But on the other hand...I "COULD" BT (TO) their card THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for how ever long (6 months)??? WHEN IT IS OPENED. If it went to 8.90% NO FEE...I WOULDN'T CLOSE IT IF THE CREDIT LIMIT WAS $5,000 MINIMUM...MY CREDIT CARD PORTFOLIO is not very full of 8.90%+ so keeping a balance @ 8.90% would NOT happen for much longer...
Hey Dogman, Cap 1 Status of application: 1-800-548-4593 Work through to a rep for limit info. We want to know the limit in the morning!
I got my pre-approved offer for a platinum VISA after Mr. Cooke combined two VISA accounts into a $2,400 Gold VISA account with no annual fee and a reduced fixed interest rate of 13.9%. I was pleasantly shocked when I was approved for $7,500 on the platinum VISA card. Capital One does not even know what my income is. Tim
Congrats Dog I don't personally have a Cap one card, but from what others have posted, you can increase and lower your APR with them through PFB. I am happy you got a decent limit, they have been known to be giving out 200 platinium cards lately LOL.
Hi Mom - I think GOLD starts at $200 / Platinum, $500! LOL! Hope you are great! Best regards - Dogman
Dogman, congrats. Funny thing is that we have a similiar type of situation and yet I have never received a second offer from Cap 1. Best regards, Sam
Thanks for the info DOG - Arrrf. Now see if you can PFB that $39 yearly fee away. Congratulations on the platinum jewelry...It will go great with that new Armani suit -Peace, Dave
Yes yes yes yes yes. They BOMBARD me with telemarketing calls. It is so annoying. I think it's a play so they could market their no-hassle card. I get more calls from them than I do from my other 3 credit card companies put together!
I took the Cap One Plat a few months ago. Like in February. They gave me a limit of $500. I was so upset because I had 0% for purchases until May 2002, 2.9% BT and 14.9 fixed APR. I called to cancel the card and the CSR kept trying to get me to keep it. I said, "What the hell...I can get SOME use out of the 0% for purchases and 2.9% BT". So I did. I get a letter in the mail today - my credit line has been increased - from $500 to $5000. In less than 3 months. I know folks crap on CapOne but they have been nothing but fantastic to me.
I have two other CapOne cards - my CapOne Gold MC that started out at $750 CL that is now at $4300 (got it in 2000) - 16.05 APR. And a CapOne Gold Visa with a 19.9 APR and a $1500 CL that is now zero (transferred that balance to my CapOne Gold MC)
One other thought. Sometime after my first year with Cap1 I asked why the increases were always so small and they stated it might be because they didn't have my income on file. So we added it on both accounts and I did notice my increases got larger. Whether that's a factor of being a customer for longer, my income on file, balance transfers, large payments... or why I can't exactly say. But I just thought if you make a good income you may want to make sure it shows on each Cap1 card you have.
Thanks Dogman....yes...Cap One has been good to me. And yes, I carry a balance on my Cap One MC...my Cap One Visa is PIF.
Thats an important point, Marie. Sure explains a whole lot. I think the whole combination is important. I just can't seem to get any information out of them. I must be flagged or something. One rep told me today "all you have to do is pay on time and stay under the limit" to get an increase every 6 months. Yea right.
