    Hi All!

Ok, I have come into some money and am now able to pay off two CC debts.

    M/C = $300
    Visa = $1300.

I plan on paying them in full, but have some lates from a few years ago.

    Should I :

    A) Ask is they would consider removing lates in lieu of my full lump sum payment?
    or
B)Pay the balance and try a good will in about a month?

    Which would you guys do?
Would I lose all leverage once I pay them?

    Thanks!

Why not try asking them. If they don't accept, you can always decide to pay and then do the goodwill letter a little later. Ask for a supervisor when you call.

    PS, A bit more info

They are closed CC accounts that are way over their limits due to late fees and such.

They report to all CRA's as "Closed by credit grantor" and/or "Was 150 days late"

The last time I made a late payment to them was in 2001, since then I have been paying them in very small amounts every month and on time. Now i just want to Pay them and forget about them.

Maybe a goodwill letter with "payment in full" offer before sending them money?

I tried doing that by phone, but i got turned off when i got some young kid telling me that he couldn't't transfer me without a reason. When i told him the reason, he said that he would gladly accept my payment. I said "But I was to speak with someone who can make this decision for me first", he told me, "There is no way that is going to happen"

    I hung up the phone.

    Try this first:
    A) Ask is they would consider removing lates in lieu of my full lump sum payment?

Use this if A) does not work:
B)Pay the balance and try a good will in about a month?

Yes, you would lose leverage if you paid they without getting an agreement in writing first.
