I want to sell, Dh doesn't want to The real estate market has appreciated greatly where we live. We moved into our house about 6 years ago. The house has now doubled in value in the last six years. Our house is only 1700 sq. feet with a small backyard and small frontyard. It is also a townhouse. The few good things about the house are it is about 5 miles from the beach and sits high up on hill with a beautiful view. It is very lush. But the house has an appraisal of about $390,000---assuming a few repairs were made. I say sell it and walk away with almost $200k in profits. NO TAXES!!! I am in my late twenties and DH in his early thirties and I think we are young enough to sell the house and wait for the real estate market to turn again before we buy. Wait a few years and buy again. I really think the market is inflated where we live in Orange County, California and it will drop. When it drops, I think we could buy a nicer house for less money. Plus, me and DH have been wanting to open up our own business for sometime, and the profit from the sale of the house would enable us to do it. DH is a little hesitant to sell. He seems to think we could use the equity in the house to open our business. But I am afraid that by the time we go to open our business, in maybe another year, that the market will deflate and we will not have the same amount of equity available. Any thoughts, opinions, and ideas?
Re: I want to sell, Dh doesn't want to Really, I think this is a smart decision. As long as your husband and you feel comfortable doing this...go for it. And good luck on the new business. Dani
